Early Identification Brochure

For this assignment, you will use the Unit 4 Assignment Template to create a brochure that will include information and resources for young children (birth to 3-years-old) with special needs. You may change the font and color to make the brochure more appealing, but must delete everything in RED and add your own information.

Your brochure should include the following sections:

1. Describe how a young child is screened and evaluated.

*Go to Google or another search engine and search for your state information (i.e. “Early Intervention, Florida”) to find your state information.

• Identify the specific agency in your home state that screens and evaluates a child ages birth to three.
• Explain the screening and evaluation process.
• Include a statement to demonstrate understanding of ethical and legal restrictions on the use of published, confidential, and/or proprietary information for a young child.
• Include one paragraph and an appropriate heading.

1. Describe the necessity of early identification of special needs and the importance of early intervention.

• Describe what you learned from researching state early intervention programs that can be used by an early childhood care professional to promote early identification of and early intervention for infants, toddlers, and young children with special needs.

1. Describe examples of three services available to support young children with special needs.

• Research specific examples of services available such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, family counseling, etc.
